The dark garden is unlocked after you raise 1 dark chao of any kind. It is set place in a dark/cave type area, with blood red water that doesnt stain your chao. In the DC vers there is a nifty little cave as well.
There is a random hanging cage as well, if you were skilled enough you could put a chao in it, of course, it would require throwing the chao and the chao could just walk out of it anyways.
Inside the cave is pretty cool, there is a cooking pot with a skull on it, a pool of bloody water, a ledge you can stand and walk around on, and cool markings on the wall. Chaos chao not included.

The last prize for the races for the dark garden is a radio. It has a couple different songs, one is nicknamed 'The poddy song' because it sounds like music you would hear in a little kids bathroom. Seriously it does, either that or a barney song. There is also a tombstone in the back, and in the very back you can see the vmu transporter, it looks like a fat egg with stubbly wings.
There is also this really nifty ledge thing you can run up and down on, and chao are attracted to the fences just like the 'crack pillars' in the hero garden. However it takes them a bit of coaxing to get over there compared to the pillars.
